HP 6578/1823/6625/51641 Refill Instruction
1. The filling holes are located on the top of the cartridge
and are sealed with small plastic plugs.
They must be removed by pushing them into the cartridge using
a pointed instrument (a ball point pen works well or a push pin),
or taking them out using an awl.
2. It's also a good move to check the color chambers with a
tooth pick before putting in ink. The chambers are somewhat dry and
you might have to push the tooth pick in far to get ink on it.
3. Clean the printhead with a paper towel first. Fill the syringe with 10cc of ink.
Insert the filling needle into the filler hole of the color to be refilled (see diagram)
and push downwards into the bottom of the cartridge, but do not block
the hole totally for giving a venting space.
Not the cartridge contains a sponge and slight resistance may be felt.
4. Slowly inject up to 10 ml. of ink into each filling hole. In the meanwhile,
watch the printhead and stop filling once any trace of ink coming out is observed.
There is no need to reseal the holes after filling.
Important: Do not inject the last cc if it is air bubbles.
5. Set in a little container for 5 minutes as a drip precaution.
Make sure no dripping, then install the cartridge to make a test print.
If necessary leave cartridge in printer for up to 24 hours. (Allows ink to flow to the print head).
6. Clean the syringe with water and dry for future use.
* Suggest refilling sequence Yellow > Magenta > Cyan.
Clean the syringe with water and shake several times to let residual water out before a different color is refilled.
* Refill immediately once cartridge is empty.
