HP 51649/51625 Refill Instruction

1. The filling holes are located under the green or blue top.

The green or blue top must be removed before refilling by

carefully prying it off with a thin metal blade, such as a penknife.

Alternatively lay the cartridge on its side, hold down firmly,

and strike the green top with a blunt instrument to break its seal.

2. Place the printhead on several layers of paper towels to absorb

any excess ink while refilling. Insert the filling needle into the filler

hole of the color to be refilled, and push downwards until the filling

needle reaches the center of the cartridge.

Note: The cartridge contains a sponge and a slight resistance may be felt.

Important: When you take off the color cartridge cap will notice

that the sponge is white. Do not change the sponge color.

Fill the individual colors until the color just begins to show in the white sponge.

3. Slowly inject up to 7 ml. of ink until the sponge is saturated.

4. After refilling the top can be refitted and secured with adhesive tape.

5. Set in a little container for 5 minutes as a drip precaution.

Clean the printhead with a paper towel.

Make sure no dripping, then install the cartridge to make a test print

6. Clean the syringe with water and dry for future use.

7. Replace the cartridge and run 1 – 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.

If necessary leave cartridge in printer for up to 24 hours. (Allows ink to flow to the print head).

Note: Empty cartridges should be refilled immediately.

* Suggest refilling sequence Yellow -> Magenta -> Cyan.

Clean the syringe with water and shake several times to let residual water out before different color refilling.

* Refill immediately once cartridge empty.
